Demand for Good Governance in the World Bank
This document provides back ground information to the Good Governance Framework (GGF) used in the Demand for Good Governance Project (DFGG). The concept of accountability has gained increasing importance in World Bank. Traditionally, efforts to address accountability issues have focused on improving the “supply-side” of governance. Given the shortcomings of these supply-side measures alone, there has been an increasing emphasis on “social accountability”. This document provides an overview of the tools used by World Bank Projects, their history and the directions in which social accountability will be further developed.
